As an agency of the United States government, NASA is not only responsible for the public space program, but is also responsible for long-term civilian and military aerospace research. A key component of the space program is the NASA Deep Space Network (DSN). This network of antennas supports interplanetary spacecraft missions and radio and radar astronomy observations.

This network is a facility of NASA and managed and operated by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). NexOne provides technical and program support to JPL in many functional areas. These areas include:
